I never said anything about swapping it back to the factory hardware for service work. My woman would not allow me to do shady stuff of that nature, and I'm not looking to get into any legal trouble.

Another question for you, since you seem so enthused and knowledgeable about this warranty information over a dealership. Why would Ford still do the 3 year 36K mile warranty (being the most crucial) and nothing beyond that?! If you own one (Focus ST) and purchased yours brand new (like I did) then you know what all is covered under the 3 different sections. 3 year / 5 year / 7 year. Why would they void everything after the 3 years?! If it's going to handle for the 3 years, then why would it not take it after that?! They will KNOW if you modify anything else; ECM logs, tool marks from changing parts, etc. They will know if you're hiding something.

I will probably do one thing that the dealer will NOT like. I'm putting a oil catch can on it. Not cutting that factory hose (it'll sit pretty in the glove box - not that it makes a difference) as I'll get all new hose and make a pretty little mounting bracket and place it somewhere I can drain it at easily and often. If they can find some reason that a oil catch can might ruin my vehicle, then by all means I'd like them to show me.
You'd have to swap the intercooler back to stock in order to install the stock grille shutter system as all of the available kits require the removal of said system.

You have to have it installed by the Ford dealership to properly activate the FRPP warranty in Oasis and initiate the transfer of the powertrain warranty from Ford to Ford Racing.

It can't be installed by joe blow and keep any warranty coverage intact as it would be the same as any other aftermarket performance modification which has the risk of damaging the power train as far as Ford is concerned. Especially if it wasn't installed and registered by a Ford Dealership.

The specific coverage provided by Ford Racing is quite limited in comparison to the power train and bumper to bumper warranty.

Look I'm not telling you not to buy it but if you read the specifics and have any actual mechanical issue with the power train after the initial period of time you may be in for a fight as your Ford dealer will likely put the blame on the tune, and FRPP will say they are not responsible at that point. You will likely never need the protection of the warranty, but if you do value the complete 5 year/60 k mile power train coverage or any extended service plan you'd be better off not modifying the car in this manner.

I don't get why you're so insistent that your dealer knows best when clearly they pointed to the exact same legal document which states the low limits of coverage under the FRPP warranty.

Ford Racing total aggregated liability per qualified vehicle under this LimitedWarranty is $8,000: Each covered component has its own aggregate value, which when combined shall not exceed $8,000 in total parts repairs, except in the Province of Quebec, where the cost of parts and labor are covered. The maximum liability for failed parts by component category under this Limited Warranty is as follows: engine assembly parts $5,000, transmission assembly $1,500, and rear axle assembly $1,500. Under this Limited Warranty, Ford Racing retains the right to replace any failed components with remanufactured parts for the life of the warranty.


I'm not even the first to point this out, but I guess you and your lawyer girlfriend know better than Ford's lawyers.

Just to keep playing devil's advocate, I think the fact that you even get any warranty coverage at all from Ford or Ford Racing for their power packs says a lot about how much they stand behind their work, but at the same time I cannot justify throwing away the 7/100k premium care ESP for the thrill of 90 lb-ft more torque and up to 40 more hp under the curve as it would be quite probable that Ford would deny a warranty claim for a failed engine due to the aftermarket tune as it can be demonstrated that it was the cause of the problem, or at least strongly suggested.
