2005 ZX5 Rear Hatch Question

I've a question that hopefully will be rather straight forward. I have tried to search for them but I want to make sure I have my terminology right so I can get the right parts and do the right research.

Secondly, the hydraulics on the hatch are also shot. They won't hold the door open and need replaced. Is there anything special about replacing these? Are these types of hydraulics a standard thing or are they more proprietary?

I have copied your post and done some editing here. I have moved your question regarding the suspension to the proper section. You can find it here >>Click here<< And to answer your question about the struts that hold up the hatchback, you can buy these struts at most auto-parts stores and they are fairly simple to replace. Most of them just have a clip that holds them in place, just pry the clip open and the strut usually comes right off. Be sure you replace both sides.

Thanks for help. I figured since I as asking about a MK1 I was in the right place. :P

And I'll stop by a few places this weekend and see what they've got for the hatch struts. Good to know they are more generic than I was originally thinking.

If you can't find them at an auto-parts store, you can always measure the ones you have current and then check on www.rockauto.com. If you click on this link, you will find a discount code inside as well >>Click Here<<

Looks like I found them on Rockauto. I've never heard of them until today but man they seem like they have everything!
