2001 Zetec exhaust manifold
Trying to get a 2001 ZX3 put back together.
I've noticed on the exhaust manifold and studs, 2 spacers (Ford part # W703974-S300). These appear to be used / needed to get the exhaust manifold ports precisely aligned with the cylinder head exhaust ports as the exhaust manifold stud holes have quite a bit of play while sitting on the studs. The spacers are basically plastic sleeves which tightly slip onto 2 exhaust studs.
Does this sound right to anyone?
Are those spacers really needed? Obviously I can install the exhaust manifold with gasket on the studs without those spacers, but what happens if I don't use those spacers? I'm assuming the exhaust ports on the cyl head won't align with the exhaust ports on the manifold.
