They could deny a warranty claim and possible void your warranty. Think anything oil related, leaking seals, turbo problems etc, not necessarily a blown engine. Basically, you would be responsible for the bill either at dealer or elsewhere.

we can also use conventional oil right? manual says full syn and blend.

also oild change for full synthetic is 6k to 7500, conventional is 3k, how about blend?
I bought 4 different oils today and i will send samples from each oil change and then see which one is the best for my car ...i have motor craft , castrol, valvoline, mobil1 and Pennzoil platinum and ultra lined up for Blackstone test ..i will try royal purple and Amsoil after these oils .
I want to see which oil do the best protection at 10.000 miles oil changes

I'm not taking my car to the dealer, they did put the wrong oil in my car last time , i think every full synthetic meets ford's specification . And why wouldn't full synthetic be mandatory on a turbo charged engine if they want you to follow 10k miles oil changes?

I wonder if Rotella T6 5-40 would work... It is for diesel vehicles, but it works wonders in motorcycles... I have a ton of the stuff... guess I'll just stick with the standard go to... mobil 1 synth when I need to do the change....

This thread should be stickied!!

Found out this happened to my ST prior to my purchase... how many ST's are being mishandled by oil change places?

No they can't.

I don't drive my car often, if the mileage never get high enough for oil change and it's been many months, do I still need to change oil? like half year, a year?

Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor® (IOLM)
system which shows a message in the information display at the proper
oil change service interval; this interval may be up to two years or
10000 miles (16000 kilometers). When ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or
OIL CHANGE REQUIRED appears in the information display, it’s time for
an oil change; the oil change must be done within two weeks or
500 miles (800 kilometers) of the ENGINE OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL
CHANGE REQUIRED message appearing. The Intelligent Oil-Life
Monitor® must be reset after each oil change. See Engine oil check in
the Maintenance chapter.
Per the third printing of the 2013 Ford Focus Owners guide.

I'd like to know how the car figures out when the oil is done... I can't imagine it is running oil tests... so is it computing mileage, acceleration, time running and last change times to come up with the numbers... I still shoot for 6000-10000km but on 1 change a year the oil still gets pretty black
