Shopping LSDs - Quaife vs Torsen

I'm considering installing a LSD in my Getrag. This is for a kit car being built based off of a 2002 Focus SVT. The car will be mid engined, rear wheel drive rather than front wheel drive.

Any recommendations/comparisons on the quaife vs torsen unit? The price difference is pretty drastic.
Torsen - 781.95

Quaife - 1,011.95
http://www.c-f-m.com/performancepart...m#.Up4qKmRgZb4

Any comments appreciated

Everything I've read and heard is that the Quaife is the way to go, for FWD.
http://www.houseofthud.com/differentials.htm says a lot. See the last paragraph.
RWD? Hmmm... another innerweb search would prolly help.

Sounds like an awesome project, keep me in the loop, I wanna watch!

I've had the Torsen for 80,000 miles and love it. Funny I don't recall paying more than $450 for it, perhaps they went up in price. At the time there were threads saying the Torsen was more aggressive. A friend bought the Quaife and the build quality was impressive, but after 80k trouble free I'd recommend the Torsen for the price.

I used a 28 spine torsen in a 8.8 in 331'' mustang w/ a panhard bar w/ no issues. I also have a torsen in my 23 foci. I'd put a torsen in the front diff of a sti. A torsen is one of the main things that is missing in the new ST, imo.

Unless you all out racing I would go with the Torsen , use the diff in money on something to make you faster

Just installed a torsen and a clutchmaster stage 3. Very happy with both pieces. The torsen makes the focus a totally different car. Crazy traction in the corners and it leaves 2 equal black marks on a tire spin. I use my car mostly for commuting and it makes a real positive difference even driving to work.
I didn't consider the quaife because I think its a worse piece and also more expensive. IMO you would be paying extra for a warranty. If your not racing and breaking it I wouldn't bother with the quaife.

Torsen is good but perfect circle was doing a group buy for the quaife and I believe he was selling them for $900 or $950..... my logic is you are already spending 650-700 on the Torsen whats another $150 or so?

Why didn't Ford go with Torsen in the RS if it was better? There is a debate on this but quaife is more of a 50/50 split ATB

I would go with quaife and you have a lifetime warranty not that the Torsen isnt good but I have heard of at least 2 people breaking them but that was in very high HP cars.
