CEL after filling up

Hey guys, just filled up the 12 Focus, and maybe 10 seconds later the CEL came on. Range was at 19 miles before empty. I was in the middle of no where. What do you guys think is the issue. Never had a problem with gas in the past.

You may have triggered a low fuel code. I would drive it for a few days. Usually after a certain amount of start ups or a certain amount of miles, the computer will do a self test and if it's okay, itll clear the light. If its still on after a week, I would have the dealer check it out.

I almost asked you if you gas cap were closed properly
Hahaha
My bad
Sometimes it's just a bad gas, maybe water on it, try to run a fuel injector cleaner just in case

I doubt it would be a low fuel code. I've been down to 11 miles to empty, fuel light and warning are different that CEL, come on at 30 miles left IIRC.

I've seen it before. Work in a Ford Service Department. Not out of the question. But, it could be something else.

Could be though, maybe the cap less valve didn't seal properly.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I drive a '12 Focus, so the gas cap isn't an issue. Turns out it was turning out some code for de-energized performance. Whatever the hell that means. The end result was solved simply by driving it.

I actually let it go to 15 miles before empty which is something I rarely do. I thought that was the problem. I'm glad it was nothing after all.
