How to get satisfaction from dealership?

I was sold a new Ford Focus 2012 SE by a Ford dealership with two unaddressed recalls : FSA Recall 12B37 and FSA Recall 12S29C.

I'm in Canada so the US federal law that prevents the sale of new vehicles with unaddressed safety recalls does not apply. As far as I can tell, there isn't a similar law in Canada.

Ford Canada has opened a complaint with the dealership but after most of a month, I've heard nothing from them about this.

To say the least: I'm pissed off. The car is full of defects, TSBs, recalls. I'm constantly at (another dealership). And the original dealership couldn't be bothered to fix a safety recall.

What should I do regarding the unresponsive dealership? Complaint through BBB? Ideally, I'd like them to give me back my $ and they take the keys and ownership.

Have any of the TSB's and/or recalls affected day to day operation of the car?

Yes. Grinding transmission (fixed with another recall). Radio issues and others.

I don't know what your defects are, but TSB's are not things that need to be fixed on every car, more like recommended procedures for repairing common problems. Make sure you read through the entire TSB to see if it applies to your specific vehicle, and if you are having that specific issue. Some TSBs are serious, some are just head's up for dealers. For example, on my 2010 Chevy HHR there is a TSB for the front seat armrests. The TSB states that if a customer complains about the angles of the armrests not matching, that is not a defect, but caused by the position and angle of the seats.... obviously I haven't barged into my dealership demanding they change my armrests because of that TSB.

As far as recalls go, those must be fixed. Check your vin # though because not all vehicles of the same model year may be affected.

And if one dealer gives you a hard time, go to a different one. If you make enough of a stink, the first dealership will probably help eventually, but to me, I would just rather take my business elsewhere. When my focus was under warranty I had a problem with the service department where I bought the car, so I drove past that dealership to get to a different one. I have not been back to the bad dealership since. But I have the luxury of living in an area with multiple dealerships relatively close.

To me, the best satisfaction I have gotten is taking my business, and that of my friends and family, to another dealership.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm really ticked that they would sell me a car without checking for safety recalls.

Send a detailed, calm, rational letter to Ford's regional representative, with a copy to Ford's Canadian corporate office.
Good luck.

Good luck.
Tried both of those. Heard the crickets. Ford Canada HQ is just down the road (literally) so I might hand deliver a letter.
