Unibrace UB Chassis Brace.

Hey there,

This is my first post here.

I've been a member of focusst.org for some time now and vwvortex for my wife's GLI.

I put on one of these Unibrace UB's on my wife's car and it changed it dramatically for the better. Read more about that here. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...the-Audi-GLI!!

I asked Bruce (the owner of Unibrace) if he were potentially interested in making some of these for the latest generation of Focus. Because it's the best selling car in the world and this chassis is shared with a few other platforms, I'd thought it would entice him.

What's your opinion?

I know this Focus is supposed to be a stiff platform, but after driving my wife's GLI and feeling the exceptional difference; then getting into my ST and feeling the "slop" I'm surely intrigued myself.

Looking forward to the feedback.

I like the idea but what was the weight on that brace? Is it steel, aluminum, or?

Slop in your ST vs your wife's GLI= How so? What conditions? Where do you feel it? Slop can mean a lot of things to different drivers.

I generally feel the slop through 40+ mph transitions in the ST. There is a chassis flexing going on that becomes more apparent as speeds increase and can be felt through the steering wheel's relation to the tires and how the chassis reacts to input and causation.

Yea, you could fab something up, if you have room for it. Any of those braces or any Mazda ones like JBR, Corksport or the Protege`garage wouldn't work for me, cause of the exhaust system I have. I suppose I don't feel any of that slop. Yea, I have a few braces but not in the mid part of the chassis.
