Thermostat

Well after almost 7 years and 108k miles, I've gotten a Check Engine in the Foci.

Dig Code P0128
Which means
check coolant level
thermostat defective
ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor defective

The stat and sensor are $150 (autozone) $220 (Ford)
The stat is $30 (autozone) didnt look at Ford
My thought is to replace both since it doesn't look like a fun job to replace.

Any help would be great on how-to. Also should I suck it up and buy Ford part?

Weird thing, I still have good heat blowing and heats as fast as always.

Did you check the coolant level?

If your car is heating up just as quickly as it always has, then I'd suspect the Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor (CHT). I'm not sure about the 2007, but my 2000 has a CHT instead of an ECT. When changing the CHT, you don't have to worry about coolant loss. Also, the CHT works differently from the ECT. On second thought, the temperature gauge runs off the same CHT sensor, so if it was bad, I'd suspect you'd see that reflected on your temperature gauge as well.

If you are going to replace the thermostat, I'd definitely get the Motorcraft one.

Couldnt find anything about a CHT just the ECT
Ill be replacing the Stat/temp sensor since its built together. while its apart ill be cleaning the intake and replacing the belt.

Ill take pictures and do a write up, since I couldnt find much in doing this

Mine didn't have the extra sensor it was not a bad job.
1 jack up pass.side remove the plastic shield 2 10mm bolts.
2.remove serp.belt 15mm socket
3.remove power steering pump mine had 4 10mm bolts the top 2 bolts hold on the plastic reservoir power steering fluid will leak out.The one bottom bolt is behind a power steering line and a ratchet wrench would make it easier to remove bolt.
4.Drain rad. driverside lower on rad mine hads a slot for screwdriver to loosen.
5 remove.thermostat hoses.I used channel locks to move clamps and a pry bar to push hoses off housing.
6. remove 3 -8mm screws that hold housing on.
I bought Motorcraft antifreeze and a gallon of distilled water it took a little over a gallon of 50/50 to top it back off
