Winter gas - good or bad ?!?

Did you know that winter gas in fact is better for performance that the "summer" fuel ? I didn't, but here is a nice text about it: http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/winterGas/winterGas.html

Thanks for posting this was very interesting.

I'm not so sure that im going to exclusively use winter gas for the rest of the winter (mainly because of the cost) im sure regular gasoline should be more than good enough on a late model car, however in an older car that has trouble starting in the winter i can see the benefit.

Um, you don't have a choice. All gas stations change over to winter mix in the colder weather.

Really? Well i guess ive never really taken notice, I always saw the little adverts at certain chains but never really thought of it as much more than a marketing thing until this, thanks for setting me straight though

Most places not in the refinery belt have ony ONE choice for gasoline. All the different brands come from the same pipeline coming cross country.. Only the additives of each brand are added to the truck taking the gas to the stations.
So for plenty of us the gasoline. no matter which company, is from the same exact pipeline as any other local gas station has.

Winter gas seems worse because of cold weather. the first few minutes of startup in cold weather use up a huge amount of gasoline.
They say Summer gas cost more to make due to having lower volatility.(Mandated by the EPA.. The Summer gas is the 'special formulation' with low volatility.)
Winter gas is the old 'all the time gas' which has high volatility

Now if we can just get rid of ethanol.. That mpg sucking crap.....

This article puts a bit of a different spin on winter blend http://jalopnik.com/what-you-should-...g-i-1450089585

I have noticed a decline in fuel mileage which is annoying, the Focus already has a small tank.

I feel like i dont need power as much durring the winter, because of the snow and ice i drive much slower durring the winter and any excess of power wouldnt really count for much as to much power would just cause wheel spin in the snow

But.... but... that would hurt the poor small multinational farming corporation farming the corn. Without the ethanol mandate and subsidies they wouldn't make nearly the billions of dollars a year they now make.
