My knowledge of this area of the law is pretty vague, but I think if there's no way to direct warm air to the windshield, the car officially fails a federal mandate. Does the defroster work at all?

Get in touch with CAMVAP. Apparently they have some kind of fund for rental cars... I don't know the nitty-gritty of it because I had a loaner by that point, but I would think it's definitely worth talking to them.

I'd get the part number and call other dealerships. I don't know if Ford's part system references other dealer stock or if your dealer is too lazy to check (my assumption).

This really really sucks. I asked nicely for a loaner vehicle, but nadda. Ughh

Warranty covers it, but damn, it REALLY sucks driving wearing a full snow suit with toque and a mitts and having to scrape your windshield from the inside...

when I bought my New Honda I had to take it back for something
A loaner was provided , they told me I didn't buy a new car to be bumming a ride or walking

The loaner policy is totally a dealer thing. Some always offer a free loaner if you bought the car there and it is within the warranty period.
Some dealers do not. It has little to do with Ford.
