P0609 DTC code

Well, here's a new one. 41K and up pops this code.

Before I contact my dealer, from what I read anyway this one should be a warranty issue - even more so as I have the 100K ESP bumper to bumper coverage.

Can anyone confirm this as a warranty problem? Is till don't trust these people as I continue to get different responses to the same issue(s).

Joe

I'm not a expert but, if you got the 100K ESP bumper to bumper coverage, the answer is: YES, this is a warranty problem. Let Ford to deal with it.
*misunderstood

Joe
P0609 is a vehicle speed sensor control module output b error code.

Sounds like a job for the dealer to look at.

DTC= Diagnostic trouble code, not DCT= Dual Clutch Transmission.

In fact the O.P. didn't even mention the transmission in their post as it wasn't strictly relevant.

Interestingly the speed sensor codes often refer to transmission problems (i.e- slippage causing the engine to rev higher than it should at a certain speed).

Well, the last update for the transmission (a couple of months back) WAS NOT covered under any warranty (verified by Ford too). Had to pay for that one out of pocket as I was over some 36,000 mile threshold. I don't like going to any dealer unarmed!

Well in that note, off to the stealer!

Thanks all!

Mine was, 42K miles.
Under the TSB they are obligated to do the update when they are inspecting the transmission itself.

BS. They quoted the 36,000 mile "bumper to bumper" warranty.

The DCT transmission falls under the 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.

That transmission is under full factory warranty.

Updates aren't for luxury or optional features, they are intended to address drivability concerns.

Somebody owes you a refund.

Hey jbird1955,

I'd like to loop in your regional customer service manager to assist. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, and servicing dealership; I'll get the ball rolling.

Overdue update

Sorry for the delay in posting this response.

The dealer took the car and identified the issue was with the PCM and not an input. They had to order one which took a couple of days to get in and then put my program back into the new one.

$0 out of pocket for me on this one but I did buy the 100K bumper to bumper protection when I bought it so I'm not sure if it would have been covered otherwise (41K on the car).

Seems to be working fine, no issues with the car or it's operation.

Thanks all, Joe

Wavsine, you would have thought that it was but when I contacted the Ford rep for the area they said it wasn't covered. As it was $100 I chose to let it go and not fight it.
