Fist vs Fost

Was wondering what everyone would take I like the fist for a couple reasons cost, mpg, and it would be badass pulling on v8s in a fiesta after it is tuned and aftermarket parts put on. So my question is any wish they would've waited and got a fist or are they glad they got the fost? Deciding for next summer if I want the fost of the fist

Don't think the cost between the two is so far apart anymore. When the Focus ST first came out, seemed like all the ones (I saw anyways) were loaded versions costing about 28k, but now I've seen base Focus ST's at local dealers for under 24k sticker. Fiesta ST's loaded can go for 26k. So really you could get a some what stripped Focus ST for the price of a somewhat loaded Fiesta ST. The FOST is faster and has more interior room, but the FIST gets better gas mileage and is a little more toss-able in corners. Only negative I've heard about the FIST (if you can call it a negative) is that it has a pretty stiff ride.

I suggest you test drive both and see which you like better.

I'd go with the Fiesta because honestly the focus got too big and the fiesta comes in at pretty much the same curb weight and kinda resembles the zx3's more than the new focus do. Sure the New focus comes a little faster, but after the bolt on's your looking to put on with either it would surprise me to see either break the 14'sec 1/4 mile time anyway which will put you right up there with lightly modded stangs and camaros.

Stock for stock the Focus ST is faster, handles better (higher lateral g achieved before sliding), and is more composed to drive. The Fiesta's only dynamic performance advantage is that it stops better despite smaller brakes, wheels, and nearly 500 lbs less weight.

Subjectively it really comes down to what you want. The Fiesta is closer in size and power to the old mk1 ST170/SVT Focus than the MK3 ST, and may feel a bit more raw as well as less over powered for some people.

The Fiesta is fun to drive, but the Focus is the one I prefer.

YMMV.

The FoST is a little quicker, but it's only a little quicker. It will probably come down to the nut behind the wheel in the real world. During the ST challenge I got to drive both cars. They are really very similar. I got the FoST because i need to have 2 car seats in the back, the the fiesta was just a little too cramped, and the hatch was just a little to small. So it really comes to what you want from the car. They are both very good cars and you won't be disappointed in either car.

I've driven both the FoST and the FiST. I'm a big guy at 6'5" 265lbs. While I can fit in the Fiesta (my wife has a Fiesta SE I drive regularly....GREAT fuel mileage!!) the Focus fits me MUCH better. I feel like I'm comfortable in the Fiesta, and I could live with one, but getting out of the Fiesta and into the Focus was like "Ahhhh! This is WAY better!".

I posted a video of my time with the Fiesta ST:
