just a quick note:

To those of us who are considering LED'S in the rear bumper and have a fairly power full system dont do it. Reason being is over time if the subs are facing back they'll beat the hell out of the connection and you'll wind up having to either hit the bumper to get them to turn on and not even that works sometimes or get new ones. I've learned the hard way and I dont think I have moisture in there either at least not that I can see.

It wont matter what way your subs are facing. The best you can do is lay a 1" thick (I mean thick in density) under the sub box, face the subs to the front, and seal off the trunk from the back of the box. Meaning there is no open area above the box. If you do that your bass will be louder, a lot cleaner, your car won't rattle, your plate, lights and everything will stay together better.

Or just don't cheaply mod your car

I think it's just a general issue with how they fit. The factory bulb that went out and lead to the LED's was also the right. Further playing with it shows it's a bad connection. It takes some fussing but for some reason it seems like that mount doesn't make very good electrical contact after a certain time frame because it just uses pressure to fit in (both the bulb and the bulb mount in the reflector). Just how that design happens to work; I have the same issue with my Corolla's dome light from time to time which uses the same bulb type (non LED though).
