Well, it's a violation of federal law to defeat a cat but Michigan seems to be one of the few places you could pull it off. Most states have to periodically inspect car to pass emissions, presence of the cat is part of that, Michigan does not seem to do that.

The car will post a CEL with the cat gone, the rear O2 sensor picks up on it instantly. Car itself would run fine though.

If u were to do that I would recommend getting a tuner from Tom... The car could potentially run too lean and u would not want to run wide open throttle u til it is tuned correctly... I have done cat deletes on other vehicles and never had a problem( just the check engine light) but on these cars tom told me no wide open throttle til I get the right tune... It would gain u proly a few more hp.. But also make your car louder which may not be a good thing depending on the police presence around your area( makes u more noticible)... Just some food for thought...

I installed this one from FS Works on my ZX3. It leaves the cat and flex pipe in place and then runs to the back from there. With the cat in it sounds really nice...not load but a nice burble. For a while I had my cat out and that made it pretty loud...my wife complained about the noise.
