I have a 2006 ZX3 2.0 with an automatic trans.
It has come to the time where i would like to turbo it with the FSW Stage 2.
The issue that i am running into is trying to figure out how much boost my stock trans would be able to handle. I figured the engine could handle more but i dont know for sure.
The main reason is because i would like the car to be a little bit more fun and it is a DD.
Previously i have heard that they handle 11-12psi and buck at 14psi? Am i hearing wrong? For DD i probably would like to push between 8 and 10 but that depends on whats safe.
Currently i have 50k on it but i dont know if that would make any difference.
Thanks for any info.
It seems this thread went on to discuss the Lentech trans but lost the original question. I have the FS Stage 2 turbo kit in my ZXW (Duratec 2.0) which is a Daily Driver. You are correct in that the stock trans will manage well at 11psi. Using a boost controller (Not part of the FS Turbo Kit ) for a few 1/4 mile runs, I have turned it up to 14psi with no issue. On a daily basis I kept it at 9psi. I bought the car new and the ZXW had 100,000 on it when I put the kit in. I rebuilt the trans because I felt it was time to, with new clutch plates. I have driven the car for several years and the trans is still perfect. The moral here is, if the car will be a daily driver, you don't drive it like a rental car and keep the boost to no more than 10psi, you will be fine.
