Interesting. Any reason why you went with 17s vs 18s? Weight? Cost of tire?

Less expensive tires is a benefit but ultimately it was just because this is what I came across; they were a Kijiji find.

ST and STedan wheel swap:

Last week my sedan and my friend's ST both had new wheels for a few days, when we swapped for fun.
We had been wanting to see his wheels on my car for some time so we agreed to do the swap. His ST got my Rs, and the STedan got his Varrstoens

My Rs are 17x8 +46, while the Varrstoens are 18x8 +35. The wheels fit flush but the OEM rim protector pokes a touch.

It was fun to change the look of the car for a bit, but the fact that they were Varrstoens and not TE-37s bugged me a bit. Iíve always liked to go with OEM/authentic/original parts with my cars when applicable so this was a change. It was because of a 9-month wait for 5◊108 Volks that Mario went with Varrstoens in the first place. They still wouldnít be here today had he ordered them back then. Thatís crazy.

Anyway, the cars are back on their own wheels now. Last Thursday we changed back. If anything though theyíve made me start looking more for ideas for next year. This was the second season on the Rs and while I still like them, it would be nice to change to something new and different. Thatís what winterís for; with them coming off soon Iíll have time to ponder my options and see what is available.

I was looking to grab a set of BBS CFs but they were sold too soon.

With winter approaching the days of summer mode are getting numbered. Last weekend a mini-photoshoot was done of the ST and STedan, and I think the photos came out well. I have more to post but here are a few for now:

I also added a small touch to the interior (which is dusty, I know). I removed the OEM SYNC badge as so many do, but I didn't want to leave the spot bare as it looked too plain...

So I cut a small decal to make note of the limited run paint colour and put that in its place.

I like paying attention to the little things that not everyone will notice.

That looks GREAT with the lowering springs. Really transforms the car. The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of is that a lot of the springs out there put a LOT of rake in the cars. I'm not a personal fan of that but I know it's popular and it does still look pretty cool.

Anyway, looking great as usual

Technically there is no rake, but with the way the wheel openings are sized there will appear to be reverse rake with most springs.

I'm not a fan either but springs are okay for now until coilovers find their way in for next year.

I made up a new banner for the top of the windshield and a few days ago Mario and I stuck it on. Something to advertise for the blog, of course.

I also cleaned the Focus today for a photoshoot with a friend. More on that when he edits the photos.
