cigarette lighter socket issue

Hi,
I need to replace the broken cigarette lighter socket on my 2003 Focus. I removed the head unit bezel but I cannot remove the socket. Presumably there must be some retaining clips inside the insert but I cannot locate these. How do you detach the socket from the plastic sleeve that fits onto the bezel? I need a more detailed approach.
Thansks.

in all honesty I think it was easier to just head to the junkyard and grab the whole bezel.

There are a couple small tabs in the plastic sleeve that poke through openings in the metal sleeve to hold the metal sleeve in. I jammed a couple small jewelers screw drivers between the plastic sleeve and the metal sleeve to get the tabs to release. It's not easy because the plastic sleeve doesn't have much flex.

What a pain! I managed to get the original socket out only after I destroyed it. I had to separate the inner shell from the outer one in order to take them out. Why is this component designed so poorly I don't understand.
