nevermind terminal i meant the positive cable and negative cable, as for positive is it from battery to starter then alternator? and wat about the grounding cable? all the junkyard cars were all effed up.

i believe im looking for something like this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-OEM-5S4...06cf4c&vxp=mtr

the motor i got was bought local 450 with alternator, ac compressor, power steering, downpipe with flex pipe, throttle, only stuff i needed was the harness and all the hoses n ecu which i got today half off sale im honestly not even 600 dollars in yet.. which is pretty good and reason why im going through with this. im just confused on the positive n negative cable.

I'm having a hard time remembering if the battery cables stayed or if you took the set from the zetec. I think the ones from the spi stayed I can't remember if that was part of the trans harness or not.

Yes you need batt cables. They connecct at terminals to about 5 different things each including fuse box. On zetec pos batt cable I a very simple runs from batt to starter to alt. The negative if I remember correctly is incorporated in the wiring harness.

Swap?

I dont believe i dropped a valve seat, but i think my connecting rod is done. im really wanting to do this swap from the spi to the zetec but im not sure. im not sure if my manual tranny is compatible with the swap, to be honest i dont have any clue what im doing. all i would like to know is if its possible to do the swap in my car and if someone could give me some info on what motor to look for specifically?

Easiest swap for you would be to get the same year focus. Hatchback, sedan, and wagon any will work. Hatchbacks are easier to find. And all hatch backs from 00-02 had the zetec. From 03-04 some had the 2.3 duratec and some had the zetec.

Now for the badnews. Your spi manual trans will not work on the zetec it will need to swapped out. You will also need axles, shift linkage, ect.

also you will need speedo cable and possiblty dash cluster, mainly depending whether the speedo cable is mechanical or electrical.

there is a good 5spd swap write up on another forum, the transmission you will need is called mtx75 used on several generation of ford cars but you will need one froma focus.

Hello I am new to the forum and sorry for bringing up an old subject. I am currently in the middle of this swap at the moment and have run into a small issue. I have a 00 focus with a 00 zetec wiring harness but the engine and engine harness where I sourced the parts from is the 02.5 newer style connector. Could I just source a 00 zetec engine harness and that would fix my issue? Or do I have to source a 02.5 wiring harness and dash harness?
