Mine failed where the housing meets the head and the metal plug on the bottom. The cfm is similar to the ford but the plug is sealed off on the bottom. And as I recall much more heavy duty fasteners to hold the thermostat in place.

I bought a CFM housing and it looks like they did a great job bolstering the poorly designed SVT oem housing. better bolts and a well sealed metal plug on the bottom.

I got a Zetec housing and drilled out the sensor hole. I left the freeze plug hole sealed rather than create another weak point, and I haven't had any issues so far. My leak point was exactly where samus described as well; never had a problem with the O-ring area, and I'm pretty certain it was the original housing with over 170k miles on it.
