Let me get this straight.

http://www.fswerks.com/collections/e...products/fs029

these headers will work as long as I extend the flex pipe or add to a straight pipe section?

Correct, they will bolt up with no modification to the header. And as you mentioned either extending the flex or adding to the middle section is all that is required.

Just curious. Does anyone know if the 2.5" flex pipe FSWERKS advertises, is any longer than stock? Or are y'all already including this in the header measurements?

They revised they're flex pipes a while back to where the auto and five speeds use the same flex. These are on the mk2 focus though. Would still need extending on the 3rd gen

Just curious to see if anyone has heard any info about this magnaflow manifold/ catalytic converter?? Curious to know if it would be much more free flowing than factory...

so... the flex pipe is NOT needed for mk3? Is it beneficial in the least bit if I plan on running cats? While I am drifting (on the track with my FWD car) I would like to be environmentally friendly ;)

So ignorance asking a question here. Is there a particular set of years that one should be looking for when it comes to these headers?

The flex pipe is needed, but the flex pipe included with the mk2 header is too short to fit properly on the mk3.. so a custom one will need to be fabricated, or your exhaust flange will need to be extended.

According to hearsay from other threads, the Ti-VCT runs clean enough to not need a cat to be 'environmentally friendly'. I believe they are still required by law though.

Everything fits with out modification, you just have to pull the car back portion of the exhaust forward to connect to the flex pipe. But extending the car back portion makes for a better fit
