I bought 2 LED strips (12 lights each strip) and I know they run on 12v. Is it possible, (without causing some serious electrical problems/possible fire?) to clip the factory footwell lights and add the Strips onto existing wiring in the car? Or do I have to buy an "add-a-circuit" cable and run it from the car fuse box?

If going the first route is possible...my only issue is not properly identifying which color wire is negative/positive. I looked under the footwell and I'm seeing both wires supplying power to the footwell factory lights are light purple: one with a white line and the other with a green line. I'm guessing the white is positive and green is negative.
Use a multimeter to test the the voltage of the cables. This will help you identify if they have a constant 12v supply and which is positive and which is negative.

Positive will have a charge, and negative will not.

Dome lights for the 2013 might be 194 but I know the 2012, however, have factory LEDs which are more of a hassle to mess with than its worth. And the cargo lights are in fact 194.

Michael, why you say factory LED's "...more of a hassle to mess with than it's worth"?

I'm not challenging your statement, simply looking for info before I dive in.
Thanks bud.

The factory footwell lights are LED and in blue for the wife's ST. I wish they were white.

Well apparently from what I've heard, the dome and license plate LEDs are not "consumer accessible" because the lights are expected to out live the life of the car. And i'm sure the LED bulbs are soldered in which would make it more difficult to change.

I have a question for when you are driving. I know the factory light is still dimmly lit while driving. Does the LED act in the same manor? And is it brighter? I just ordered some and am hoping for them to be brighter even while driving. If not I guess I'll have to just wire in strips to a switch.

All Red LEDS in the interior. Dome lights front to back and both footwell lights. Also have white LED cargo lights for the hatchback
