Had some warranty work done so put the stock filter in so they couldn't say anything about the K&N drop in, noticed the stock filter gets better gas millage.

I bought a whole new airbox to get my mileage back. I found that as soon as I installed this mod I lost fuel mileage. On the flip-side, the one time I took a longer highway trip I got substantially better fuel mileage.

I still have the snorkel delete, taped gap on tubes, and newmission scoop just changed the filter back to stock.
Labor day just to keep up with slow traffic cursing @ 80 got 40.2 mpg

That's basically what I mean. The stock filter being installed negates any air flow benefits. The only time I got higher than OEM mileage intake-wise was with the snorkel-delete/drop-in combination-once I did this mod I lost 3 mpg on my commute in-town.

In fact, my new drop-in should be here today to go back to the snorkel-delete/drop-in from my Steeda. Then the Steeda will only get reinstalled for shows or trips to the track.

Yes but what I'm saying is. I have this mod and snorkel delete just no K&N drop in filter stock air filter with the two mods, and getting better then when it was just snorkel delete even in city.
With the K&N gas mileage went down like it let the computer add more fuel to take advantage of less restrictive air flow.

It is not my experience though. I am running now on a OEM filter (changed it for the same reasons you did it) and I get crapy gas mileage since then.

P.S. I used a lot 89 this summer instead of 91 but since 5 fillups or so I went back to 87. No real change in mpg and the drivability didn't change that much ! When I used 91 and sometimes 94, the engine did perform better, but no mpg gains worthy to be mentioned at all.

I have a spare OEM air box top from my '12 SE sedan (new and unused) if anyone wants it. Bought it for a project, but it collected dust instead.

I also have a K&N drop in filter with about 10K miles on it, I'll make it a package deal if someone would like that, too.

I know that the ram air with the K&N filter is hurting my MPG's but I don't think I could go back to stock, I'm too happy with the improvements. The acceleration improvement throughout the power band, and the responsiveness from a stop are worth it IMHO

I wonder if anyone has tried just driving without the little insert with the newmission mod. I am not super interested in permanently modifying that piece, but does anyone know how much that part costs? Might be worth it to buy a second and just swap the stock insert for a drilled one when I want the extra air flow.
