Because Ford really wants to spend more money painting it's volume sellers. No word on the Fiesta either... maybe it's because they're the two cheapest offerings in the lineup, not because they "hate" them.

My paint looks fine, I've seen the issues others have had, but I've also seen far worse paintjobs to begin with on other manufacturers vehicles, regardless of how high up the lineup they sit.

It all comes down to a few things; 1) The Focus is a BIG seller. They paint them as cheaply and quickly as they can, while adhering to a certain quality standard. 2) It's also up to the consumer to do their homework and inspect their car upon delivery. It's a big investment... impulse buying or buying without inspecting your new car is like buying a new house just because you like how it looks on the outside from the end of the driveway. 3) Installing new painting tech in the plants that make the Focus would likely cause some downtime, and they JUST rolled out the 2014MY. Maybe we'll see this tech surface for the Focus next year between the 2014-15MY production gap.

Just another reason to have the car resprayed something a little more unique than blue or gray (no stones, from the owner of a gray focus).

Ok I'm in the body shop at Chicago assembly plant and grant it our plant is the 2nd oldest and way out of date I don't think our paint dept is up to par with any of the newer plants but 2015 were doing a huge overhaul of our plant so we shall see then.

Here's hoping that my getting the most expensive "extra" paint job (White Platinum Tri-Coat) means a few more eyes looked at it... ;)

"Later this year, the Louisville, the Chicago and the Oakville Assembly Plants will follow, making Tauruses, Police Interceptors, Explorers, Edges and Flexes roll out with perfect bodies."

I'm so glad that Police Interceptors will have perfect bodies.
I was losing sleep over that.

Agree the personal inspection is the buyer's job. If you do not bother to check it out before signing.. Do not complain later.
My Blaze Yellow is great.
Two years on it is still great. I have one microscopic chip in the front bumper, right down to the black plastic. and that is it. That chip is as small as the period at the end of this sentence.
A few minor paint dings from parallel parkers banging into me on the bottom of bumpers, but no loss of paint there.

I have a number, more than a couple, chips in my hood. I'm not real happy with how quickly my car has developed these chips but it's not quite to the point where I would complain to the dealer.

I've never had a car repainted and would like to know what it would cost to have the car totally repainted. I'd imagine some prep work (sanding etc) would be needed and that's kind of labor intensive.

So, what does it cost to have a car like the FF HB repainted:

Decent job?

Goob job?

Great job?
