2008 SES Bumper de-uglification

First, I think this is the right forum..... Second, Has anybody ever thought of or been able to smooth over the 08 bumper recess? I have recently chipped my paint on the front of the bumper and am considering bondoing and smoothing over that section. I have also considered just swapping with the more attractive 2009 bumper but am leery on the bumper and fog-light mounts matching. I am looking to see if anybody has done one of these modifications to their mk2. Hopefully somebody can comment on the idea of bondo as I am worried about it chipping or falling off. Anyway, thank you to anyone who is willing to read through my weird ideas......

Don't use bondo. At least not alone.

One way I've used to fill in large areas on my bumper was to bondo the basic shape and then cover over with a thin layer of fiberglass. So far I haven't had any problems with it wanting to separate.

As far as I know, you won't have any problem swapping bumpers. All mounting and plugs should be the same between years.

I have done the 09 SES bumper swap, the only thing other than the bumper and grille are fog light mounting brackets. On the 08 bumper the brackets are part of the bumper but not on the 09, other than that it's a straight bolt on.

Yes the SES bumper makes such a difference. Also, where did you find that hood. I love it. Heres mine. Do the swap, I never did get around to adding my fogs, oh well.

I was looking at the 2009 bumper and was curious what kind of lips were available when I found this image of the 3D carbon kit. Is that plate insert stock or a 3D carbon part. Has anyone ever seen one of them in the wild?

It's an SC styled CF hood from Seibon, unfortunately they stopped making it about 2 years ago.
