First problem with new Focus ST3

How do I get the s-eating grin off my face every time I drive it?

For those that saw my initial post about the CD, I fished out a piece of friction tape looking stuff about 2 inches long that was vertically across my CD loading slot. Works like a champ now.

Really like this car. Was a little worried about going back to a manual after all these years, but it's like riding a bicycle; feels normal.

Maybe if you drive fast enough the inertia will wipe the smile off your face?
Seriously though, congrats on the new car! Performance Blue is one of the best colors (Silver and Black taking the next spots on the list)

It's normal for anyone to love their new car.
Have patience. Everything becomes old after a while.

Lots of people traded in faster cars for their MK3 Focus, myself included.

That's when you start modding and make it feel new and exciting again.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3.

Try this: It's ten o'clock at night, after a long day you're already thinking of blissfully drifting into your bed, but your beloved wife expresses a desire for ice cream, the closest of which is at your 24-hour supermarket, 2 miles away.

You thus crawl out to your new ST, begrudgingly fire it up, and set off to make your mate happy.

You feel good about satisfying her, but in this scenario you really, really wish you'd gone for the comfortable Titanium with the automatic tranny.

Okay, okay, I can't go on. Yes, a month after purchasing my ST, I've lived through the above scenario more than once. And my wife's car is a 2013 Focus Titanium. But given all that, I've NEVER chosen to go in her car instead. I love my ST, and driving it, no matter how boring the mission, is still a privilege and not a duty.

Got caught in a creepy crawly traffic jam tonight and not for a minute did I wish I'd gotten an automatic. That really says something, because it seemed every time I thought of getting a manual there would be a huge traffic backup. Yet when it happened, didn't bother me, This car is a joy to drive!

I live near highway 1 by Santa Cruz, and the summer tourists regularly jam up the road. Yet for some reason it seems easier to use the clutch and shift (especially in bumper-to-bumper traffic) than other cars I've driven in the past. I don't know if that's actually the case, or it's just my biased memory playing tricks on me, but I don't care.

(I love the Performance Blue color of your ST, by the way. That was my first choice, but I was thwarted by my mother-in-law getting a Performance Blue Titanium a month before I got my ST, and the fact that my local low-volume dealer happened to have a Tangerine Scream ST3 on site right when I finally decided to take the plunge.)

I drove nothing but manual transmissions from 16yo till I was about 30yo. At that point I was living in a city and fighting traffic every day. Cell phones had taken off, and Bluetooth had never been heard of. I went to an automatic.

Now, with hands free bluetooth, I have both hands free. I enjoy shifting gears. Wouldn't mind rowing a manual again.
