^ This. Who buys a performance vehicle and complains about hearing the performance, especially when someone only has to unplug the tube? How is a legitimate mechanical device 'rice' when high-end cars are creating electronically 'fake' sound? Why is it the manufacturers responsibility to make each vehicle to individual specifications when obviously none of us want the same thing?

It's one thing to ask before purchase because it is a legitimate concern. Yes, manufacturers could always put the money 'elsewhere'. But on the flip-side, the number-crunchers could have cut the cost out of the budget entirely and pushed that into the black side of the sheet.

It's popular in Europe. Only God knows why.

My STI just uses a louder exhaust and doesn't need any help to satisfy me need for noise. I find a sound syposer a bit silly but not an awful addition.
