You are correct; the ST doesn't have this part but has the same/similar intake. I believe it is a noise suppressor but to be honest, nobody actually knows besides the engineers who designed it.

No one has a picture of the snorkel in it's original position. So for other people that are trying to do this, this will give you a better idea. The front end of the car is pointing to the left.

After the delete, I did find the throttle to be a bit more responsive in the low RPMs. Up and down shifting seemed smoother. I could feel it in the clutch. I have this feeling that it could be a placebo, but I really do feel like there was a slight change. Hoping to see what kind of MPG I will be getting. Oh and I have a k&n cold air intake installed already.

I am serious but I have a wedding in October and the reason I bought the focus was because my last car up and died.
So funding is at zero for awhile. Hell I don't even have floor mats. Just old carpet samples from Home Depot!

E-9289 is the part number for the new K&N filter cold air kit that has the bigger lid replacement filter wounder how this would run with just the snorkel delete and plug on end open.

Snorkel delete w/o K&N

Hey guys,

First post for me is a question. I own '13 SE hatchback and I keep reading about people doing a snorkel delete with a K&N drop in. My question is can I do the delete without the drop in? Will it create the same effect? Will I do any damage from doing this (I plan on ordering the filter this week). And also, what exactly does this do other than make the car louder?

Yes you can do the delete without the drop in air filter, and if you really want to do a drop in get the k&n E-9289. It has a cap on te end so you would be able to run it as an open air filter or leave it as a closed air filter.

Thanks Creative for the response. Other than noise, does this do anything else performance wise?

I believe the snorkel delete and k&n drop in will yield 6-8hp along with better throttle response and overall driveability. It really is a worth while mod that won't break the bank either.
