Another wet floor story -photos

2003 ZX5 156K miles.

Got a wet passenger floor. Saw water dripping when driving through bad rain storm. First time floor ever got wet. Rains in Florida all the time. You can see where there is a stain. That is where the water was dripping onto the carpet. Pulled the cowl off and air filter was dry so water was not getting in through there. Ran water in cowl and all water drained out holes in engine compartment, none inside. Did this for 5 minutes. Nothing. Noticed a slit in padding. Checked for wet and padding was dry.

Also A/C cut out after an hour of driving. It cut out after switching it to recirculate from outside air. Switched back to outside air and still just hot air. turned it off for a few minutes and all was cold again. Switched to recirc and got hot air again. This never happened before either. While glove box out, looked for evap drain but did not see it anywhere. Condensate is dripping from bottom of car after running a/c anyway so doubt drain hose is clogged.

Any ideas?

Thats strange... Im gonna go out and look at mine to see whats all down there that could possibly leak. In my old car I had that happen but it was my heater core that went bad and completely flooded the passenger side floor lol, my windows were broken and could'nt roll down so I was driving home from work at night with my drivers side door open so I could see, imagine your car overheating with the steam and all but inside your car... Lol, I'll never forget that night...

OK, you win, I have no problems. Lol. Man, I can't even imagine that situation.

I can not get water to drip from that spot or anywhere. I haven''t tried watering the windshield, but I can't see how that could be the leak.

The a/c thing is very strange and doesn't happen driving around town.

The leak can be anywhere where the unibody has cracked weathersealing (usually ceramic or caulk), the cars are not weather proof at all, fifty thousand leaks until they caulk it up. Once a seam has cracked it can leak. Could easily be in the red painted area outboard of the filter. If rain bad and deep enough then could be in wheelwell behind the plastic wheel liner too.
