Great news for the OP but any education system in the world would still consider a 5% success rate for the DCT repairs a severe failure. It's too bad most people settle for the, "characteristic of the vehicle". Glad to see the OP stand up for a justifiable claim.

So, after 35 days in the garage I finally got my car back today and so far it is perfect. I can honestly say that today was my first good driving experience in the 13 months I owned the car. No rattles or shudders....no grinding, it shifts smooth as silk. It kind of makes me wonder if the real true fix for all the transmission troubles is to just do a tear down and rebuild....it worked for me....so far at least. When they tore it down there were a lot of damaged parts, almost a full page of the invoice. Everything from bearings, rails, all the shift forks were replaced, both clutches too....it was a huge fix. So, if Ford has to apply for a bailout from the government it was probably my repair that broke the bank....

The seals and clutches were replaced on my wife's Focus about 12K miles ago. It took a long time and many complaints about shuddering, grinding noises, etc. before it was done. It's been fine ever since, but will soon hit 36K miles.

If I could get what I owe on it for trade-in, I'd get rid of it. Unfortunately I have no confidence it will last to 100K+.

Can you post a picture of your invoice? My car is going in Tuesday and I'm trying to insure that they do a similar tear down and inspection. I fear I may need to suggest parts that they look over. My car has been shifting as poorly as yours for a long time, about two years now I've been trying to get it fixed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hope it goes good, I will warn you though....be prepared to be without your car for quite a while depending on the parts they need. Some are backordered up to three weeks. The tech who worked on my car spent a lot of time on the phone with Ford engineers trying to determine what was needed, I doubt that you have to worry about them missing anything. When they opened up my tranny there were so many damaged parts it wasn't hard to decide what to replace. I was a little worried about a rebuilt transmission but so far I couldn't be happier....heck when I first got home with my car after the repair I actually checked the VIN to see if it was really my car. I couldn't believe the 360 degree difference....hopefully the results will be the same for you too. Good Luck!
