SRI on 09 + 2.5" exhaust = live bird in engine?

So I installed my Airaid SRI in my 09 a few weeks back, and I bought the car with a 2.5" F2 exhaust already installed.

It was subtle at first but it's become more persistant lately.

It literally sounds like a bird or several tweeting and chirping on low-ish revs/slower acceleration. It'll do it right up to 3000rpm, but usually only right after a gear change and under lighter load, but load; I can't make it happen in neutral with the hood open.

Triple checked everything is where it goes, nothing seems out of sorts, can't find any exhaust leaks....

I've read where people with CAI's in earlier models had this... But no reference for my set up. It didn't start until after the airaid.

Anyone ever hear of this? It's kind of annoying.

Don't think i've ever once heard of a chirping sound as the engine doesn't stop sucking in air intermittently lmao, before i installed my CFM TB my car would make a loud whistle sound like a turbo kind of miss that lol.

Yeah- not sure it's quite that sound- or at least, doesn't sound like the turbos I've owned- which were both vw's. I guess it could sound a bit like a whistle- maybe dog whistle- it's high pitched, definetly sounds like air... Ill try and see if I can get my iPhone to get it, not sure the mic can pick it up over the exhaust sound.

I have the Roush SRI. I know what your talking about. :-) On my car it's a very high pitched whistle when I'm in gear just kind of coasting along. As far as I know it's just a dirty Throttle plate. Try some cleaner.

I dont think your supposed to clean the foci throttlebody, it has a filmy subsance on the plastic that if cleaned, destroys it. Or so ive read..

. are you sure all clamps and air filter is seated correctly, and there isnt a small air gap creating the noise? Id double check everything again, was the "accordian tube" from the TB used with the air raid? Or was it removed? If its tuere , take it out and gently pull it apart and look for a crack. im not too familular with the air raid SRI on a foci, but you relocated the maf im assuming, is the O ring/gasket still there, transferred with it to the SRI ?

Maybe try putting a different brand air filter on it? Watch out for KnN filters, with SRI'S , the maf housing is so close that it can and will get damaged by the oil, so get a dry flow.

Throttle body sure didn't look dirty when I had everything off... But good to know I'm not the only one hearing it. You know, you get kind of intune to what your car sounds like, when something changes- it drives you nuts. Everyone else I try to get to hear can bearly hear what i'm talking about.

Anyway, heres what the set up looks like:

Everything to the TB get taken off, the setup comes with a longish har plastic tube that the MAF goes in and the filter goes on, then that goes on a short rubber tube connector. Yeah, I double checked everything- can't find a leak for the life of me.

One of the reasons I picked this particular one, is it's the synthamax- it doesn't require oiling, just light cleaning. I've heard that about oiled filters and MAF's so I paid the little extra for this new kind that have now.

Gasket.... Come to think of it now, no. I didn't see a gasket when I pulled it off the old unit, so assumed there wasn't one. Maybe that's what I'm hearing?! Would O'Reillys have something like that?

I can get my CAI to make similar noises, only at certain RPM's/gears. I can ease off and then increase rpm and get it to do it.
