Are the pulleys the same diameter?

Underdrive pulleys were proven to provide an increase in horsepower and torque years ago on the old 5.0 Mustang. Now it wasn't much, but it did help improve efficiency. The key is not to make them too underdriven and then affect charging and cooling.

I do not believe they will add as much hp and tq as they would on an old 5.0 given the size and output of the 2.0 DI Ti-VCT engine, but there would be a couple and the engine may feel more "rev-able."

I would buy a properly engineered set.

The SR Motorsports set posted above is of good quality. I have used them on Mazdas in the past, but didn't realize they made them for the Focus.

I believe I had a Focus Central lower pulley on my old ZX3 years ago (I believe that was the brand). Not really a noticeable power increase, but it did seem to rev better. Might have been in the my head, but it did feel that way.

On a FS-DE Mazda 2.0 (Protege 5 engine), I noticed nothing. Of course that poor engine was as unresponsive to modifications as you could get.

Well I'm hoping Aron can pull through on a set

I'm not a band wagoner but I'm with you on that.

Honestly I'm not on anyone's band wagon but injected just seems like the best choice to get it done as in more than likely the only one that'll try for a while

Not against underdrive pulleys at all. We used to make our own for the AMC drag engines until Traco Engineering (the Trans Am guys) stepped up to make some up. I even cut off every other water pump impeller blade to make a setup that cooled fine and quick at the strip but also made 20+ hp over 6000 rpm. The Booth-Arons Gremlin at the time claimed 26 hp on their 356 inch motors. It can be done but as a system, and a percentage of your size motor's output. You get no raging numbers from small inch motors, only small bits, of course they all add up. One pulley brings something to the table but you cannot feel it by itself. Human optimism is 20% of all dyno increases.

My issue with this whole thread is still unanswered.

If this gear is part of a set.... was it included with a crank pulley? How much did you underdrive the waterpump?? Or did you over drive it if it included an oversized crank pulley originally?

Are you forcing cavitation and overrevved parts? Are you underspinning a critical part of your engine's cooling system?

If you don't know... you really should find out before you are stuck on the side of the road with a voided warranty.

The pulley is the same size as the stock it's just lightweight
