I was curious about doing this too but I was a bit worried when people were saying things needed to be cut.....I'm not really keen on cutting stuff up on a brand new car yet...

As for the clip I don't know but I can't see it hurting anything so why not....

Is it any louder then it was before? Another thing that worries me a little bit....

The flange on the end of the filter fits into a channel in the airbox, so as long as you have the lid on, it will be secure. The K&N drop in filter that many people here use come with no clamp like the stock filter, and I've never heard of any issues.

As for needing to cut stuff for the snorkel delete, that part is optional. Other people have pushed or pinned the rubber flap out of the way, and others like me have just left it as is.

My K&N didn't come with a clamp. There's absolutely no need for a clamp if you're using the stock air box with the lid.

My little tuper wear scoop I made it got down to 1.6 degrees difference between ambient temp and intake temp at 70 mph. I thought the hump was in line with snorkel pass though but it was a little to far left live and learn. Plastic and duct tape sounds like a MacGyver series. Until I get some bills paid down then I can run with the dig dogs... LOL

Your link seems to not work for me.
When you did your lunchbox removal did it make your car sound ricey? I'm looking to open it up on a zero budget but am afraid I will sound like a pissin bee

It's just a link to the torque app postings in this section of this form. There are a few videos on u-tube on 2012 focus lunch box delete if that is what you mean by ricey I didn't cut mine just remover and used an old turn down pipe didn't like it later sounded cheap so put it back on. Going to try to add a tip on the other side of where or tip is now there is a dimple drill a big enough hole to bore scope it I'm thinking there is a perforated tube running the length.
EDIT: This type of ram air is what I was building mine of of but was using my 65 mustang convertible as an example but those were metal...

Been doing a lot of research about this mod and I still can't find out what its exact purpose is. I just want to know if this part is vital or not before removing it. I am still going to do the delete otherwise, but I would just like some clarification on what the snorkel is if anyone can help me out.

Seems the ST model does not have it.
It's use is probably to quiet any extra intake noise. It just gets the air from behind the oval.
I do believe it helped me, but could jut be placebo. Either way the ST ain't got one.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
