Just to add...there should be a little "o" right in the middle of the headlight lens, marking the center of the light.

SVT HID Headlight and Fog Aiming ?

Does anyone have exact dimensions for aiming SVT HID headlights (and fogs) ?
Assuming the car is level and aimed at a vertical wall 25' ahead, how high should the left and right lamp beam "center spots" be?

I think my HID lamps are aimed too high. I get complaint flashes from oncoming cars even on low beam, and the high beam does a good job of illuminating bird nests in trees.

It's worse when I'm pulling a heavy trailer...

Not really. The measurements refer to the aiming of fog lamps (eg 2" below low beams).

Incidentally, without a trailer the HID low beams seen to be aimed more or less correctly, but the high beams are still too high. Is it possible to aim high and low beams separately?

highs and lows are aimed together, they cannot be aimed seperately

measure from the ground to the center of the projector. take 2" from this measurement and draw a line on a wall 25' away from the car. make sure your on a flat surface.
adjust the white knob on the back until the bottom line of the step of the beam is level with your measured line. if you have never adjusted the vertical aiming on the housings, then you wont need to adjust those.

Two questions about aiming SVT HIDs:

What is the correct way to release the clips on the cover over the adjuster? I don't want to apply too much force and break anything.

What is the function of the little white gear assembly visible at the top of the light? Mine is has a slotted nut under a sticky black patch. Turning it a bit doesn't seem to do anything to the aiming. I thought this might be the aiming adjustment.
