I don't know how accurate the computer is but I have been pulling ridiculous numbers lately on the highway. I've been getting 43-44 mpg on the highway with windows closed and air-con off going 65mph and 44-45 mpg going 60, and 45+ going 55mph (scary as ). The mpg drops off at 70 to 41 and 38 at 75. Did these tests at a minimum 10 mile intervals resetting the trip computer at each speed, some where over 10 miles (done until mpg stopped changing). As I said, I ran these "tests" with air conditioning off, fan off, windows up, 73 degrees F outside, Premium 93 gas, 1 person (myself) in the car with no more than 30lbs cargo, and my Steeda CAI installed, Cruise control set that the corresponding interval for each test I even ran some of the more unbelievable tests 1 or 2 more times that trip and achieved MPGs within .5 of the first test.

Again, this was only done based off the trip computer. Unfortunately When I finally did fill up I had added another 100+ miles of stop and go city driving to the mix so even my overall fuel mileage for the trip couldn't be verified by the pump. I should note, when I tried to run at the speeds with the air-con on it was significantly worse. 40.5 at 65, 41.3 at 60, didn't test the other speeds.

I'm getting 40mpg when I try

I have had my Focus for a couple of months and have experimented on how I drive to get the best mpg. I drive in Canada and so the car uses L/100km format, but I have converted to mpg.

My daily commute is 77km with approximately 15km country roads (80kph limit), 56km in highway (100kph limit) and 6km city (stop start).

Originally I drove normally for me - 90 on country, 115 highway and got an average of 6.5 l/100lm or 36mpg. I thought this was pretty good.

However, if I drive at 88 on country roads, 104 highway I regularly get 5.8L/100km which is 40.5 mpg.Very pleased with this and I have become surprisingly tolerant of my reduced speeds. I also never need look out for speed traps or cops!

Not everyones idea of a good drive, but it is working for me.

It's official. I no longer give a rats patooty about my mpg. I had it up to 37-40 for a few tanks, now I have accepted my foot likes 32!
Edit: I commute 125 -/+ miles a day so the slow lane I kinda mundane after almost 5k miles. My lifetime average is still 34.7

My foot might like 32 but my wallet likes 40 (why do the ((2014)) titanium models get 1 more MPG, is it the 17 inch wheels) ?

I don't currently own one but have owned a 2010 and a 2012
the 2010 got around 35 like it was supposed to. owned it for 18,000 miles
the 2012 did 10,000 before I lost it and got anywhere from 30 city to 45 highway depending on my driving pretty awesome on gas and style but I hated the tranny

900+ km to a tank.

I'm impressed with the results :)
