radio goes quiet when i slow down

hey guys, hope someone can help me with this or give me some insight. I have a 2011 focus, when i have the radio on, and i slow down, (getting off the freeway is most noticeable)the radio goes much lower in volume, sometimes so quiet that i have to manually turn it up to be able to hear it again. any ideas on why my car does this?

I believe you have the speed sensitive volume activated. Go to your radio settings and see if you find something like that, and just turn it off. My mom's Fusion had it and it didn't work very well. (I can't remember if the Mk3s have it or not).

Possibly your radio has "AVC" - Automatic Volume Control? It compensates for road noise by raising the volume and lowering when there is less noise. The 2000 has it (to my surprise one afternoon waiting for the wife).

Seems that your speed sensitive volume is set too high.

With your car turned "on" to use accessories, hit the "sound" button on the center stack until you see "speed volume setting" You can set it from 0-7

I have mine set to 0.

Hi there, Horde4Life,

It sounds like you may need to adjust the Speed Compensated Volume settings. Check out page 32 in the 2nd Printing of your Owner's Manual for more information. You can download a free copy of your manual here: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...OwnerGuidePage
