Warranty Question

Let's say at around 34,000 mile I have a problem, say a power window that gets stuck down for 5 minutes at a time, and I bring it to the dealership and they are unable to replicate the problem, but have it on file that the power window has given me problems, would the power window still be covered by the warranty at, say 36,001 miles, because I notified them of the problem while the car was still under warranty when the problem first arose?

The quick answer is yes, but make sure that they open a ticket on it and have actually taken it in shop and looked at it. Documentation is key!

HI ioeee,

Your dealership is the best resource to determine whether or not a repair can be made under warranty. I've also alerted your regional customer service manager to your concern; they'll be able to assist with getting this resolved.

Crystal

Thanks Crystal, I appreciate your efforts on my behalf, and look forward to the customer service manager's call.

Is there a way to look up your VIN on a ford website and find out how much warranty I have left? Kind of like Apple products you can look up serial numbers and their site will tell you how much warranty is left including any extended warranty

Hi DJ2BIG.

If you register your car on owner.ford.com, you should be able to click on the "Warranty & Service Plan" tab and view the factory warranty coverage. Extended Service Plans are not visible here, but your dealer can let you know what your coverage is.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Ashley

I had a very similar problem with my previous Focus, a 2006 ZX3. At around 14,000 miles it developed an A/C leak. They tested the system, were unable to find the leak, recharged it and sent me on my merry way, documentation and all. When the car was low on R-134 again at around 38,000 miles, they refused to address it under warranty as a "pre-existing" condition.

In case anyone is wondering, the dealership in question was Morristown Ford in Morristown, NJ, the former Warnock Ford.
