FORD said we would have to pay for it (23k miles)they said we never changed oil and car stil had original oil filter even though we paid ford to change oil at 500 miles and at 4000 miles then i changed oil myself and saved reciepts

they charged me $550 tear down and i had to pay $125 to tow to house
when i pulled motor out it had oil driping out of intake manifold and throttle body
cylinders 1 & 2 have about 3/16th inch of burnt oil/carbon build upon the back side of the valve (its no wonder it sucked all the oil out of the crank case in les than a week (FORD REGIONAL DIRECTOR TOD US THEY WONT PAY TO FIX IT)
I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL FORD CUSTOMER FOR 35 YEARS AND TALKED NUMEROUS PEOPLE TO BUY FORD

I WILL NEVER BUY ANOUTHER FORD AGAIN
AND THE ONLY FORD I WILL EVER OWN NOW IS MY 1961 ECONOLINE PICKUP
I HAVE PICS OF VALVES AND ALL REPAIRS BUT DONT KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD

FORD CORP SUCKS
Yeah, I say Ford lied to you and BSed you. But truthfully, I would never buy a car the first couple of years it came out. They always have bugs to work out in major redesigns.

I bought my 05 zx4 with 72k miles 3 years ago. The dealership said that the car was from cali and carfax shown only one owner. the car has been pretty reliable to me so far.

Only thing that I have replaced or fixed was:
-Battery
-Alternator (a pain to replace)
-Lower control arm because of the replacement of the alternator. couldnt get to it w/o taking that off.

Thats it!!! Other then your tune ups once in awhile, the car has been a champ and is almost at 170k and still running strong.

I just bought my 2002 Focus ZX5 from the original owner and the only problems I've had so far have been:

Drivers Rear Window Regulator
Dash Hatch Release Button
Valve Cover Gasket
and of course rust lol

I'd love to be there when that short block was torn down. I'd love to read those innards. If it's burning that much oil, it's a bad piston assembly or emmission melt down. Good luck and stay in FMC's untill you get satisfaction. I once hung a hundred stung lemons on my 1978 Bronco [25,000 miles] that had main bearing problems in front of the dealership.I tried 5 trips to get them to fix it but they couldn't hear anything. They had a big laugh flipping me off untill the local press showed up for an evening story. President of the dealership walked out and stopped the press/unhappy customer interview and ordered me a brand new block, installing it the following week. Surprisingly, no more morning dry start rattles. At that time it came to me that my dealership made me very happy. Sometimes you have to wait em' out.
There was a guy in the St. Louis area who crafted a giant lemon and had it attached to the roof of his car (I believe it was a Chevy), with the dealer's name prominently displayed. He would intentionally drive in front of the dealership whenever he could. It was a hoot.

They must have eventually taken care of him, because I didn't see it after a while.

Sometimes, you do what you have to do.

I have a 13 sedan with 2600 miles and I have the ticking noise when the engine is cold. When I go in for maintenance I will ask but I can almost guarantee its gonna be "normal"

When I looked I think it's coming from the fuel pump(maybe) haven't dug out schematics but fomoco put a nice piece of black foam over it. Guess for noise issues! It's on the top drivers side. No pictures yet

First engine was a cracked piston. It was discovered because the engine was burning lots of oil. The new engine is burning lots of oil so I've left the car at the dealer until the car is fixed.

Just an FYI , direct injection engines are louder but definitely mention it if you are concerned.
