How different are they?

How different are the engines in our Foci compared to the Mazda SkyActiv 2.0L?

I ask because of the Mazda 4-2-1 exhaust system. Looks like a decent exhaust manifold/header:http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/skya...a.com/skyactiv
and the engine compression is comparable.
Thoughts?

I had a 4-2-1 on my Suzuki motorcycle it worked nice, Form what I read you would need the pistons with cavity as they work together but it was developed to use 13:1 compression might work with or 12:1 Ford and Mazda use to use same engine if so it should be bolt on I could only imagine the price for them.

Edit: never mid that link was for a Mazda 6 which is the same as a Fusion the 3 has 12:1 2.0 liter looking to see if it has 4-2-1 exhaust. One review said the car is based on the Focus but the engine id Mazda's own design the bore and stroke are a little different if gaskets are same part number then try it good luck.

Bore and stroke are completely different, not 100% sure on the manifold being similar or not, but the skyactiv is not necessarily better as far as the exhaust goes.

Just because it's different doesn't make it better.

Is the Skyactiv 2.0G still a duratec block? I don't think so since the displacement is different.

To much to risk I'll go with the MagnaFlow 51153 unless injected has theirs out by then or turbo kit.

AFAIK The SkyActiv block is an open deck design (remember the Chevy Vega engine block?).
Or for you young ones, the current V6 Chrysler Pentastar block is an open deck design.

The Ford 2.0Ti-VCT GDI is more of a traditional block. Another reason I chose the Focus.

I know the skyactiv is underpowered but you get a much better car with Mazda. I'm very curious on the new 3 coming out, and the rumors on there still being a mazdaspeed3.

What rumors? Every rumor I've heard was that the MS3 dies this year and wasn't going to be returning after all Mazda doesn't have the same R&D budget anymore now that Ford doesn't have any interest in Mazda anymore.

I would have gotten a 2014 Mazda 6 but turned down the offer as it was $32k and they would not budge. I was going to wait for the 2014 Mazda 3 but ended up with a 2013 Focus.
