Hi there,

I'm considering buying a 2013 Focus SE. I'd be eligible for $2250 in rebates/incentives as of now. I'm really wary of making the purchase now as more incentives could be added later.

Now, I know it's impossible to predict what FMC will do, but based on past behavior, is it likely that there will be better or worse specials next month? Perhaps for July 4th. Is past behavior even a good indicator?

Also, if I can get an "on the road" price for Focus SE with 6 speed automatic transmission for under $17,000 would this be considered a good deal right now? My guess is "yes", but I wanted to get your opinion.

Thanks!

I'm new at this game myself, but from what I've learned, future rebates are either unpredictable or kept private...however, they are likely to go highest when stock is high at the lot.

As for pricing, I recommend utilizing edmunds.com and trucar.com to give you an idea of what a good, currently negotiated price is...and do some pricing/negotiating over the internet if you can, before you narrow down to a specific dealer. Also, try not to get too attached to any specific floor sample...there will always be another...

Hope this helps...

Just send an email to 3 dealers with the exact specs of the car you want. Say that you are shopping multiple dealers and will buy the car from the dealer that will give you the best price. Tell them you want their best out-the-door price including a full break-out of all the line items including fees, taxes, etc.

ok here is my situation.... I bought the 2013 ford focus hatch se in february. I now have approx 16 k miles on it and i really want the 2013 or 2014 focus st base @ 24k. Should I have one of my family members buy my car from me instead of trading it? and is there any incentives for the STs like say 2013s?

If you have a family member willing to buy it go that route. A new SE hatch auto 200a can sell for as low as $16,018. Figure 80% of that figure is a good idea on trade $12,800 maybe more.

In my region we have $2,000 on a 2013 ST.

Do not trade it in, you'll get raped. And you could put a turbo on it. You can put a turbo on anything. Just wait a little longer and fswerks will probably be releasing one.

I agree with the others...don't trade in...you'll loose too much value. You might consider trying to advertise it yourself....locally, or even on ebay, for example...there must be a market of people who want a focus but can't quite bring themselves to pay full price at the dealer.

I also agree that the base engine lacks a bit of 'umph'...but I find, at least with the manual, if I rev it up to 5k+ rpm's, it really starts pulling nicely....but otherwise I've started focusing on 'hypermiling' it...

Good luck!
