Sunroof/shade opening limit

When I first picked up my 2012 Ti (virtually everything but NAV and Ti perf pkg) opened the sunroof and it didn't go back all the way the cover goes to. If you press the opener button again, it moves maybe an inch. Now, looking at the liner in the car and the track guides, it looks like the sunroof should open ALL the way. I even looked at some of the advertisement pics on Fords website way back and it at least showed the sunroof fully open (photoshop?)

Fully opened

All MK3's with the sunroof in the same boat?

Yeah, this isn't a new problem. My 08 does the same thing. One press opens it most of the way, and it takes a second press to fully open.

Mine works exactly as described and pictured. Sure would love to have the full metal opening available for sun entry!

Our 06' Audi A4 works the same way, however the "extra" opening amount is far more significant.

Owners Manual:

Opening and Closing the Moonroof
Press and release the rear of the control to open the moonroof. If the
sliding shade is closed, it will open along with the moonroof. The
moonroof will stop short of the fully opened position.
Note: This position helps to reduce rumbling wind noise which may
happen with the moonroof fully open. Press and release the control again
to fully open the moonroof.
Press and release the front of the control to close the moonroof.

I do not notice any difference with noise when the roof is either fully or partially open so I think ford is talking st here on this noise issue
