Sync using SomaFM + Samsung Galaxy S3 (android) ?

Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used the SomaFM app on a Galaxy S3 (Android) or similar connected to the Sync in their car? I have the 2013 Focus SE w/ 201. I don't have the MFT.

thanks!

also if you have general stuff to say aboout Sync with smartphones lets hear it! because i'm shopping for a smartphoen that will work good in the car w/ sync. I need streaming, gps nav w/ voice and live traffic, etc.

thanks

I have a Galaxy Note 2. just Sync, no MFT.

I stream music via Bluetooth constantly. Quality is decent, and it's easy to use. Biggest complaint is having to either use voice, or go through 3 menus to select Bluetooth as a source. Sure would be nice if it would automatically select the ONLY Aux source available.

I took a road trip this weekend. Used Google navigation the whole way there and back. it conveniently "interrupts" my music when a turn is coming. Took some fidgeting on the phone to get the volumes correct (NAV was VERY quiet compared to music at first), but that seemed to work very well once sorted. I also seamlessly made calls to my wife (whom was left behind for this trip), and my Father (whom I was headed towards) through the hands free for status updates. Music paused automatically during the phone call, and came back once finished talking.

I also was streaming data the entire trip from the OBD2 data-logger I have. Watching realtime telemetry on fuel usage, average speed and other such info. That device is also hooked to the phone via Bluetooth, and worked well.

I was also using the USB port to power the phone. It would barely keep up with the usage. Over the 4.5hr road trip I dropped from 80% charge to ~75% charge. So it's definitely tolerable. Especially if you turn the phones screen off for long periods of time. I was leaving it on while navigating city area's, and then off again except to adjust music during long stretches of "nothing interesting" happening on the NAV. I also HIGHLY recommend some sort of phone mount. I had it resting on the passenger seat the whole trip, and it would have been SOOO much nicer to have had it mounted somewhere.

If you want me to test anything, let me know. I'll gladly experiment with the phone to see what works and doesn't and report back.
