Yeah, it's such a unique model. How a car nut couldn't have a soft spot for the RX-7 is beyond me. I do agree that the FD35 is the pinnacle, but I've never driven one, and I doubt I ever will.

I think to truly fall in love with a rex, you must drive a rex. And although I do think the FD's are one of the best looking cars ever made, the FB is on rails that thing handles amazing, and is also quick for having such a small amount of power. FC's being my least favorite of all...

There's my car sammiched between both my brothers cars stock rex, and third gen 3sgte mr2 =D

July Update

So a little bit of an update here,

Recently been having some trouble with my ignition lock cylinder. It hasn't been recognizing my key every so often, and I've had to play with it for a few times with varying lenghts of jiggles until the steering wheel will unlock and allow me to start my car.

Anyways the lock finally gave up the ghost the other day, essentially trapping my truck behind my svt =/ My driveway is quite narrow and I usually park with the steering close to full lock as I have to reverse and then turn up a hill to get out. Thankfully I could get the key to turn one last time after a good hour or so of tweaking the tumblers. Pure luck really, I must have tried a few hundred times.

I bought an aftermarket kit off amazon for 30 bucks. I also soaked up some theoretical internet information, and watched a youtube video on rebuilding, but any pointers would be awesome. All of the pieces seem to be borderline microscopic.

I wish I could feel like my SVT has been a good to me, but it's my 3rd Ford, and definitely the neediest i've had. =p But I still love her, especially on the twisties =)

Lastly plans while the dashboard is partially out.
  • 3M CF wrap gauge cluster surround
  • Fix stripped hardware and burnt out trip light
  • Mount Redline Tuning dead pedal
  • Eliminate plastic rattles in that section of dashboard. (I really haven't thought about how I'm going to do this, previous owner had stuck a bunch of electrical tape in there, I was thinking some wool felt strips behind some of the trouble areas.)

Much easier to get to this part of the dash than I had anticipated. I sort of miss my mk1.5 interior.. but the light show on the svt is always prettier to look at when the sun starts going down.
