Well....that certainly seems like a PERMANENT fix to your problem.

The truth is it is way too early to say that any 2013 car is reliable. You can however, go by a brand's history to judge reliablility. Toyota Corollas have a long history of reliability.

The MK3 Focus are so radically different from its previous generations so I would say you can't judge this car's reliability based on a MK1 or MK2 generation Focus.

As for me, I have had my 2012 Focus with the DCT for 21 months (and 30,000 miles) and it runs perfectly. Others have not have as much luck as me as far as the DCT is concerned.

I also have a 2012 Focus Ti 5 speed with MFT and it too runs great. MFT for the most part runs good but there are known bugs but nothing I've seen or heard that would make the car inoperable. Again, I have not had any significant issues with it since the 3.5.1 update.

Hi everyone,

If you're experiencing any kind of physical concern with your vehicle, I'm here to see how I can help. Send me your information via PM so I can get to work. I'll need your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.

For concerns related to in-vehicle technology (SYNC, MyFord Touch), you'll be best assisted by reaching out to my colleague, Jaclyn, who posts on this forum under the name FordIVTteam. Send her a message here: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/p...=newpm&u=87765

I have MFT and the manual and all is working extremely well. Friends and family are beyond impress with the style, MFT and the fit and finish of the car that my nephew is thinking of purchasing one. I currently have MFT 3.5.1 and it has been working extremely well, no hiccups. I play music using Slacker radio via Bluetooth and it is just awesome the sound that comes out of the speakers. (As awesome as bluetooth allows)
I currently use a Galaxy Nexus phone running Jelly Bean 4.2.2 text messaging does not work, phone does not support it. I have heard from others that the Microsoft Phones work perfectly, so something to consider as well.

I have a 2012 Focus Titanium. I have had no issues with my DCT once everything broke in. It takes about 1000 miles for the clutches to break in. Once they did, the transmission has been smooth as can be.

As for MFT, in the beginning I had issue but since 3.5.1 came out, a lot of them have been resolved. The only issue I have now is minor and I have learned to live with it. The only thing I wish is that the system was more responsive. Sometimes, it just feels so slow.

Reliability means different things to different people. My 2000 Jetta was reliable to me in that it never broke down and stranded me (ok ok..once when the water pump went..but that was my fault for pushing the maintenance interval on the timing belt). It was however an expensive car to own/operate over the 13 years I had it. CR would say "don't buy it" but it was a good car to me and I would buy a VW again. Some folks think that when a glove box door breaks the car needs to be traded in or is a lemon. Its probably somewhere in the middle. Hondas and Toyotas have issues like any other brand but overall, are deemed reliable. I agree that the MK3 is too new to talk about reliability. The DCT issues seem to be more related to folks not liking how it works rather than it stranding people places etc...same with MFT.

I think Consumer Reports made their review before Ford started issuing fixes for MFT and the DCT.

I've had my Focus for a little over a week. I recently passed 500 miles on the odometer. I'm interested to see if the car acts any different after the 1000 mile "break-in" period.

CR needs another year of data and we may see a turnaround in their rating of the Focus. The thing about CR that bugs me though is exactly that; one option they don't like...BAM....no recommendation. If they don't like the MFT...well...recommend the one without it...its an option. I can understand the DCT issue. Most folks opt for an "automatic" so if the one that comes with it isn't great, it will ding the overall rating for the car...and rightfully so.
