I test drove one when I got my Focus. Nice enough car. Given that nobody is meeting EPA estimates, I did not seem worth the price premium and added complexity to me.

Sure - you add batteries a DC motor and the electronics to run it all. More systems to maintain and break down.

I originally wanted a C-Max, I test drove a SE and it was quite nice, more roomy than the Focus but due to the popularity the incentives were not that great and I could get a Focus Titanium for less than the price of an SE with more features and options. The C-Max Energi would have been what I wanted, but the price was more than I could afford.

The current class action lawsuit on fuel efficiency claims does not help, some people are only getting low to mid 30's, I really have not heard any updates on it since and not the claimed 47 MPG that Ford is marketing.

I was think of the Hybird version not the Plug-in Energi.

Yes, hybrid version has batteries, electric, motor, regenerative braking system and electronics to run it all. That is what makes a hybrid a hybrid.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the all-out Energi... you're correct.

The advantage with the Energi is it can go for approx. 21 miles on battery alone. If your commute was 5-10 miles you could save plenty on gas if you kept the car a while.

I saw a review on Youtube the other day for the Energi and they said with the tax incentives and Ford incentives, the Energi was a better buy than the hybrid. But, the cargo space takes a major hit.
