AC Vent Surround Paint and Color

I am a new Focus owner by about 5 weeks now. Picked up a pretty clean, although in need of some maintenance, 2003 SVT ZX5. I've been detailing the interior and pulled the AC vent assemblies and noticed how faded the surrounds are where the rest of these assemblies have held up well.

I see where many people paint the surrounds a different color. What I was wondering is if anyone has come up with a paint that matches the rest of the dash in orignal color and texture? I'm more in the keep it simple/keep it original crowd. Here I think it would look best if the AC vent surrounds matched the rest of the dash in color instead of being washed out.

Thanks for any advice.

Mike O.

I did mine with plast-dip black. If you dont know anything about plasti-dip spray, search the forums here, its very easy to use, this is my interior, notice the black vent surrounds and corner triangular shaped vents:

I painted mine black, but made the mistake of using glossy black. Don't use glossy black.

Yes, don't use glossy black. Use flat or satin.

While I know the plasti-dip isnt the best option, the color/sheen and texture match the vent slats perfectly.

I used SEM 15243 satin black on my vent surrounds. I originally used the SEM paint for my HVAC surround project because I wanted it to look stock. The SEM looks just like Plasidip, but it's real paint.

I'd vote for the Plasti Dip as well. Should last a long time too. I'm NOT a fan of the painted AC vents either. I like the stock look.

I know that Mopar makes an interior paint to match the factory colors, but from what everyone is saying, Ford doesnt?
