They did jump on the bodykit band wagon but that was popular then. People bought ricey looking cars thinking it was a race car. He (Mr. Saleen) was grassroots autocross and thus we have the suspension upgrades but not much in the power department. Now if it was made by Shelby back then we would have had a focus like the Omni GLH. Or maybe he would have just put in a 427, lol!

Yeah after 05 the 2.3L only came on the ST focus 4dr. no hatches have them.

Longer stroke = more torque
short stroke = faster acceleration

Ever rode a bicycle with short pedals and long pedals with a similar gear ratio? It's easier to clime hills with the longer foor stokes, but when you want to go fast you have a harder time because you have to pedal a longer stroke to go the same speed...

You can get the same potential out of a 2.0 as a 2.3, but you'll have to build them differently... the 2.0 will have better high end, and the 2.3 will have better low end.

Anyway, I am just a little jealous of these saleens ;D

Shorter stroke will allow higher piston speeds, (higher revs) not related to faster acceleration. A shorter stroke may be able to "pedal" faster, but each stroke performs less work because the stroke distance is shorter. Seems to be a "give and take" sort of thing.
