Wheels assistance.

So I'm taking half my vacation next week, and will take the rest later on and I plan on getting some wheels ready. I want 16's to use the stock tires (hardly worn anyways, cheaper to replace if I ever have to). Anyways, I found these that I really like: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Price


Now looking at the specs, they have a 48 mm offset. Will I need spacers or something to have them fit? I thought I saw the Focus has 49 or 50 somewhere. (Truly new at this but I'm tired of hubcaps.) Also, TPMS-wise, would wherever I go to mount them have that much trouble? Tirerack seems to make it seem like it'll be a huge hassle unless I buy from them. But I don't wanna dump nearly $200 on sensors.

Also, I'm going to school closer next year, so I won't have to worry about horrible streets, so these should hold up well. Any advice is appreciated, thanks all!

You'll be fine with an offset of 48et. The 16's will provide the softest ride for you as well.

Under the assumption that you are using the OEM 215/55/16's, you can probably use 10mm spacers to make them more flush, and 15mm would put you close to rubbing with those tires.

If you're only concerned with whether or not they will clear the brakes, you will be fine.

Thanks, I didn't want issues with that, and I don't have any need for 17s other than looks. It handles phenomenally already.

Yeah, I will use my oem Conti's. Rough estimate of how much they'd potentially cost?

What, spacers? 5mm is usually around $80 a pair, I think 10's are around $100, 15's around $125-all before shipping. Look at trakplus.com to locate the correct part numbers and then search for pricing.

Before doing all of that though, you may want to read my spacer thread. Given what you've told me so far, I would recommend 5mm in front and 10mm in the rear...

What would happen if I threw 235/50R-17 tires on the car (obviously with 17 inch wheels instead)? I think they'd be taller, but would it be by much?

If I am correct that the OEM 16" tire that you have is a 215/55/16 (I need you to verify for numbers to be correct), then you are looking at approximately 11.95mm of additional height (23.9mm additional total diameter) with the 235/50/17's. That gives you an additional 75.1mm of circumference and will throw your speedometer off by about 3.58%.

While I give relatively specific numbers, there is an amount of fudge factor due to tire pressure, vehicle loading, tire bulge, etc. This will also affect the ability to place spacers if you so wish.
