Soon to be new Focus owner

Hey guys,

New member and first post! I've been surfing FF pretty hard the past few days looking through all the really helpful info you guys have to offer. I've been looking at Foci for a few weeks now to replace my '94 Chevy as my commuter, round trip 80 miles a day, 4 days a week. I knew I wanted a Hatch and manual trans, so I've found this beauty:

http://mcclaryforddirect.com/Athens-...-Car/17066771/

I took it out for a drive yesterday afternoon and hope to pick it up this weekend. It's so smooth and quiet and I'm really impressed by the work Ford has be putting out lately. While I do like a little more get up and really like the ST, I've got to wait on my fiance to finish college before I can think of anything in that price range. What do you guys think of my pick, for my first Ford AND my first car?

If I was to buy a non-ST Mk3 , that's the exact way I would configure it, down to the color and options and all. So I say good choice . Hope it all works out, I'm sure you'll be more than happy with it.

Welcome! And nice pick for sure. The only 2 thoughts i have is the touch screen and sony are nice to have. Also if you are planning on driving that much every day why not find 1 with like 2k mile on it and save thousands. Do u plan on any mods

I was actually looking for used, but couldn't dig up much around here... especially in manual. When I started looking I found a sedan, my payments would be around $280... I should be able to get this to $300. I've got it down to 19300 so far and with my dad cosigning, I'm getting 2.9%.

As far as mods go, I'll probably wait some time to do so. I would like to see a little more pep out of it, but it gets to a point where I can't get the time to do so I may look at a ST next year. The body looks great though, I'm real happy with it. I'm keeping an open mind though, still going through some of the posted stuff here, seems like I should get familiar with plasti dip lol!

$23k is about the invoice price of a base ST.

I've seen some dealers run specials on the base model sedans in the $13k range.

I've only seen ST2's around here running around $27k and the sedans bounce around between $16-$18. So I dunno? I've not really been one to shop for vehicles since I paid 5k for my pickup and that was years ago.

Here's a base sedan for $13.9k. I know they list a bunch of crap that normal people may not be entitled to, like a military discount and so on, but I've found that if they can sell it for that price to one person, they can sell it to me too. Worked on my Mustang.

Invoice is $22,100 on a base ST, MSRP is $23,700. The only ones reaching real sports car territory on their pricing are the optioned ST2 and ST3.

Remember, your negotiation power is STRONG on new cars. It's not like if you don't buy what they have, you can't find another one. They still make them new, every day. All day long.

zheller, I am negotiating a deal on a '13 focus manual with leather, 17" rims and moonroof.. So far I have the dealer down to $18,200. I can't tell which options you're working with based on that link but you might have some more wiggle room.
