Changing to a gauge cluster with a tachometer problems

Ok I have a 2002 SE, it does not have a tach. I bought a cluster with a tach and went to install it only to find that the plug on the back that connects to the wire harness is a different size. The only conclusion I have come up with is that when I re wire the car for my future engine swap to zetec I will be able to use the cluster. Any ideas so I can use it now?

What year is the cluster from? Maybe you got a cluster from an 05-07?

Each motor has its own cluster wiring. So if you have an SPI, and want to add a tach, you need a cluster with a tach from an SPI car. Same with the Zetec, and then yet again the same with the Dura.

So if you plan on doing an engine and wiring harness swap to a Zetec in the future, then your new tach cluster should work then, as long as you got it from a car that did indeed have a zetec. Now if your cluster with a tach came from a car with a dura, then your SOL with that cluster.
